Back to the Featherweight!

During my Scotland roadtrip, I sewed the Starblocks that I had, together.

This is now in one piece, stacked in a box again, to take with me whenever I need an “ on the go” project.

When putting away all the vacation stuff, I noticed that the lid on the big scrap shoebox wasn’t closing properly anymore. So I checked it out and came across leftover squares from the GrannySquare quilts I made for the grandgirls. I cut some other scraps into squares too, to play with.

But first I had to give my Feather some love and attention.

Ah, how I love that little machine!
So: Feather on the table, lots of squares and then you have this:

I planned to fill the gaps with white squares and be done with it, but then I got another idea

How amazing to see the whole dynamic change with adding a secondary block!
Ofcourse the second block is made of scraps too and there’s not enough fabric to fill in all the gaps, so I ordered some yardage and I’m ready for its arrival!!

There, and back again.

I went on a road trip.. Saw mountains and verges covered with gorse and daffodils everywhere.

Drove past lochs and lakes, rivers and canals and saw the sea on more than one occasion

I searched and found mythical beasts and monsters and out of this world technical wonders

I visited castles and ruins, owned by dukes, duchesses and royalty and walked their grounds

I fell asleep with stunning views and watched numerous gorgeous sunsets

Looked at things described in books..

And walked on a battlefield that left me speechless….

….and now I`m back again.

Picking up the pieces 2

 The Smitten top is done!

I added some extra rows and for the sake of symmetry, I shóúld add another to the right but as I said: done with it.

Now I’ll be on the lookout for some sale quilting fabric ( as if….) for the backing and this one is ready to be quilted during the winter.

Hmm, colours are a bit gloomy, in fact the quilt is quite bright but since it is already folded and put away, I am not going to take it outside for a better look😜

I talked about scraps earlier and then I realised I (almost) never by yardages for quilttops! Usually I pick up fq’s here and there. In my drawers there are only fq’s and perhaps 3 or 4 half yards.

Fabric ís expensive and my wallet doesn’t notice a fq or 2, maybe 3….4 at the time.

So….on to the next scrappy project I started a while back: stars! My project “ on the go” Every now and then I cut the shapes, but them in a box and piece them while I am away for a few days.

Let ‘s see how many more I can do on the next trip

Sigh….. couldn’t  stand the gloominess , got my lazy ass up from the couch and made a better pic, or at least tried

…only to find that the pic on my phone is sharp, bright and nice and on blogger it s dull and blurry?
Ah well, it is what it is!
