Picking up the pieces 2

 The Smitten top is done!

I added some extra rows and for the sake of symmetry, I shóúld add another to the right but as I said: done with it.

Now I’ll be on the lookout for some sale quilting fabric ( as if….) for the backing and this one is ready to be quilted during the winter.

Hmm, colours are a bit gloomy, in fact the quilt is quite bright but since it is already folded and put away, I am not going to take it outside for a better look😜

I talked about scraps earlier and then I realised I (almost) never by yardages for quilttops! Usually I pick up fq’s here and there. In my drawers there are only fq’s and perhaps 3 or 4 half yards.

Fabric ís expensive and my wallet doesn’t notice a fq or 2, maybe 3….4 at the time.

So….on to the next scrappy project I started a while back: stars! My project “ on the go” Every now and then I cut the shapes, but them in a box and piece them while I am away for a few days.

Let ‘s see how many more I can do on the next trip

Sigh….. couldn’t  stand the gloominess , got my lazy ass up from the couch and made a better pic, or at least tried

…only to find that the pic on my phone is sharp, bright and nice and on blogger it s dull and blurry?
Ah well, it is what it is!

Picking up pieces..

..and I mean that literally! I’m back piecing the Smitten Quilt and, as always, I use scraps. I only buy yardage for BBB ( backings, borders, bindings) and stick to fq’s when I go to a quiltshop.

Here’s my scrapbox and in there are SCRAPS! I’m always amazed when I see other ( mostly overseas quilters where quilting fabric is not as expensive) people’s scraps, that in fact, are fq’s or f8’s.

In this treasure box I found just the pieces I needed for the next block.

The Smitten quilt so far:

Hmm……blogger made an odd pic of it, but it s only for my own reference: when a block falls down ( because I’m vacuuming e.g.), I like to have pictures so I can put it all back in the right order.

Piecing the Smitten is a slow process, but hey, I am a slowpoke quilter😜
